As adults one of our biggest mistakes can be assuming that kids understand the real definitions of the words ee are using...especially at such a tumultuous time as divorce. The other part of the book that I highly recommend is the effort to help kids engage in thinking, talking and JOURNALING! The prompts at the end are terrific. When Your Parents Divorce by Kimberly King is an excellent book written from the perspective of a child whose parents are separating. It takes the reader through some common situations that can arise when parents divorce. Kimberly King thoughtfully explains what marriage, separation, and divorce are in a child-appropriate manner and provides questions for the child to discuss with their parent and journal about. Children will learn that divorce is not the end of the world and that they are not alone in what they are experiencing. Parents will learn what their child may be going through and become better equipped to put their child's thoughts and feelings first and come together as a family. I wish I had this as a resource when my own parents were divorcing!

Very very poor! There are no hints in truly helping a child in a process like this. Waste of money.
What an outstanding book! It is clearly an excellent tool for kids and parents. The format is informative ( I especially like the definitions), interactive and thought provoking. It is well balanced and offers a positive approach for all family members to recognize, appreciate and applaud the unique place each family member holds in the others hearts.

As a child of divorce this book was really helpful and easy to understand. I highly suggest it for any family going through a rough time. It is kid friendly read. Love it!
